This post will be similiar to my last one, but this is the testimony that I gave this morning at church.
“As many of you know, last weekend I attended the WIT conference for Singles and it was a life-changing, eye-opening experience for me.
I don’t even know where to start really.
One of the topics they talked about was our thoughts. This was a really good one for me!
They had talked about how we need to take each one of our thoughts captive, and I was sitting outside on a swing Sunday morning before breakfast, God showed me a verse in 2nd Corinthians and it says…
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing onto captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2nd Corinthians 10:5
And that was really neat for me, like God was saying ‘Sara, this is something you really need to work on.’
And there were also some quotes they said throughout the weekend that really stuck out to me.
“You are not where you are today because of your circumstances, you’re where you’re at today because of how you responded to your circumstances.” Nancy Leigh DeMoss
“When we think we are in control, Satan is really in control.”
“Every descision we make has consequences.”
“You don’t have to answer the knock at the door”
This one was about generational sins…they were talking about how so many people blame there parents/grandparents for there own sins and things that they struggle with that there parents/grandparents also struggled with, when in reality they ‘don’t have to answer the knock at the door’ when Satan tempts them (I hope that makes sense!).
“Call for help the minute you enter a battle, not after you’ve been slain.”
Basically they are sayng that if you start struggling with temptation, pray, call someone that keeps you accountable…don’t fight the battle on your own. Have battle partners.
As I was reading through my Bible the other day, I came across John 8:32, and it says
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
And throughout the conference, God showed me lies that I had been believing, that I didn’t even know were really lies. And He set me FREE through the TRUTH!! 🙂
The girls at the table that I was at, were such a blessing to me. I shared with them some of the lies that I had believed and they encouraged me so much!!
Saturday night was an INCREDIBLE experience. They had showed us a slideshow down in the cafeteria, and when it was finished, Mr. Speed told us to all follow him quietly.
When we got to the stairs going up to the auditorium, there were luminaries along both sides of the steps and all down the hallway.
When we got to the auditorium, the luminaries were going all around the edge of the room and in the middle of the room, there was a cross with a small light shining up onto it and luminaries around it as well.
The song “How Beautiful” by Twila Paris was playing.
As everyone filed in and stood all around the edge room, people just began crying and praying, myself included. It was an incredible experience. I have a really hard time putting it into words.
We got to the auditorium about 9:45pm and I felt like I was in there for about 30 minutes just praying and everyone singing, and when I got back to my room, I looked at the clock and it said 12:30 am…over 2 1/2 hours!!
And like I said, it was just an amazing experience!
One of my favorite songs is “Go light your world” by Chris Rice. I’d like to read you the words from that song ( I forgot to take the lyrics, so I only read one verse that I could remember!), I’d like to encourage each one of you Singles, that if you ever get the opportunity to go to a WIT conference, please, go.”
“Carry your candle, run to the darkness, seek out the lonely, confused and worn. Hold out your candle, for all to see it. Take your candle, and go light your world.”
Here is a music video for the whole song 🙂 Enjoy!
Thank you for taking the time to read my testimony!! God Bless!!
