Thanksgiving #1 :)

Yesterday, November 21st, we had our first of 3 Thanksgiving get-togethers we have this year!  It was with mom’s side of the family…cousins, Aunts & Uncles, Grandma & Great Grandma!!  So much fun 🙂

When we first arrived, there weren’t many there yet, but our cousins, Matt, Zack & Tyler were there and we decided to have arm-wrestling and thumb war competitions….

Zack, with Matt arm-wrestling Ryan 🙂

Matt & Ryan having a Thumb-war, with Tyler watching.

By about this time, we were all ready to eat.  Before Dad asked the blessing on the food, he asked that we all take a moment of silence in rememberance of Great-Grandpa, Robert Murfin, who passed away back in January.

Great-Grandma and Grandpa at a Thanksgiving a couple of years ago…He is greatly missed.

Great-Grandma…she looked so lovely 🙂

Me, tickling Zack 🙂

Grandma, Zack and I played 2 games of Rummy…and Zack beat us both times…it might have something to do with all the coffee he had to drink and all the Layered Peanut Butter Bars he ate….

Yep…that was probably it!

Me & Zack…no I’m not choking him…just getting him to hold still for the photo 🙂

Great-Grandma, Grandma, Mom & I…..4 Generations 🙂

Zack wanted me to take a picture of him for his Facebook profile and this is the one we did… I love the look of the sky in the back 🙂

All in all, it was a really good time, visiting with friends & family and having a wonderful meal together!!

God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sara 🙂

A peek into my week – Saturday, day 7

Well…here it is…the last day 🙂  I must admit this was much harder than I thought it would be…especially when the days this week seemed to repeat themselves!!

I got up at 8:00 this morning and listened to a radio program while I took all the curlers out of my hair, then styled it 🙂

It turned out almost like I wanted it to 🙂

Around 8:30 I went downstairs and did the dishes, then mom I played a game of Yahtzee, with the deal that if she won, we wouldn’t play Scrabble today, but if I won we would…I won 🙂

After we finished the game, I went outside for a walk…

My reflection in the garage door window 🙂

Sorry it’s so blurry.

Jerry sleeping on the deck…isn’t he a cutie?! 🙂

I loved the color of the sky…these pictures don’t even do it justice!

My favorite time…I don’t know why, it’s just neat I guess 🙂

I went with dad this afternoon when he ran some job errands in Reading…

This sign always makes me laugh!  Can you say ‘Hicktown”?

Heading down our road toward home 🙂

The Scrabble game I mentioned earlier…these were my first 7 letters. Yeah…not so great 😛

The finished game…mom won.

Around this time, I wanted to go back outside and do more photographs, but I have run out of things to take pictures of.  So I decided, why not take pictures of…yours truly 🙂  So I grabbed a tri-pod and headed out the door.

On the dock

On our old Cub Cadet lawn mower…yes…I’m quite aware that my outfit doesn’t really ‘fit’ this picture 🙂

Grandpa stopped by for a little bit this evening 🙂

All in all…I’d say I’ve had a pretty good week 🙂  I hope you’ve all enjoyed reading about it.  God Bless 🙂

A peek into my week – Friday, day 6

Wow…this may be my shortest one yet!!  Unfortunately, there will be no pictures 😦   Dad had to take the camera with him on a job.

I’m pretty much over my cold and am feeling MUCH better!  I have more energy now, and am planning on doing housework yet this evening, since all I have done so far today is laundry, cleaned the sewing room, cleaned my room and made dinner 🙂

I prefer to clean house at night when everyone is asleep – or at least upstairs – and the dogs are out in the garage.  I don’t have to try to keep anyone from traipsing on my freshly mopped floor – that is quite a common occurrence around here!!

I also took some time this evening and put my hair in a lot (and I do mean a lot!!) of curlers…we’ll have to see what the results are, come morning 🙂

I lost at the daily game of Scrabble between mom and I 😦  Oh well…maybe tomorrow 🙂

Well…the others are upstairs waiting for me so we can do devotions before bed.

Sorry this was so short…hopefully tomorrow’s will be longer 🙂

P.S.  If anyone is interested in our kitty friend, Mr. Knightley, we are trying to find a good home for him 🙂  He’s a real sweetheart ♥

A peek into my week – Thursday, day 5

Okay!  Here it is…entry for day #5…and it is much longer than yesterday’s 🙂

I was reading “My Utmost For His Highest” by Oswald Chambers this morning and I found the section for today quite interesting and would like to share it with you….

“The Supreme Climb”

“He said, Take now your son…’ ”  –  Genesis 22:2

God’s command is, “Take now,” not later.  It is incredible how we debate!  We know something is right, but we try to find excuses for not doing it immediately.  If we are to climb to the height God reveals, it can never be done later – it must be done now.  And the sacrifice must be worked through our will before we actually perform it.

“So Abraham rose early in the morning…and went to the place of which God had told him”   (22:3)

Oh, the wonderful simplicity of Abraham! When God spoke, he did not “confer with flesh and blood”  (Galatians 1:16).  Beware when you want to “confer with flesh and blood” or even your own thoughts, insights, or understandings – anything that is not based on your personal relationship with God.  These are all things that compete with and hinder obedience  to God.  Abraham did not choose what the sacrifice would be.  Always guard against self-chosen service for God.  Self-sacrifice may be a disease that impairs your service.  If God has made your cup sweet, drink it with grace; or even if He has made it bitter, drink it in communion with Him.  If the providential will of God means a hard and difficult time for you, go through it.  But never decide the place of your martyrdom, as if to say, “I will only go to there, but no farther.”  God chose the test for Abraham, and Abraham neither delayed nor protested, but steadily obeyed.  If you are not living in touch with God, it is easy to blame Him or pass judgment on Him.  You must go through the trial before you have any right to pronounce a verdict, becuase by going through the the trial you learn to know God better.  God is working in us to reach His highest goals until His purpose and our purpose become one.

This afternoon, we (mom, dad, Ryan & I), went in town to have dinner with dad’s parents 🙂

I curled my hair this afternoon and this is how it turned out…not quite how I wanted it, but oh well!

While I was waiting for the rest of my family to get around, I went outside with Buddy and got some pictures 🙂

Thank you for reading 🙂

A peek into my week – Wednesday, day 4

Okay, today has been a VERY lazy and slow day for me as I’m trying to get over this cold.  As I was copying the pictures off the camera to the computer, I realized that the only thing I took pictures of were the Scrabble game and Yahtzee game that mom and I played…so today’s post is going to be very short 🙂

As usual, I got up and around and I just now remembered that I haven’t even done my Bible Reading yet today!  Whoops! I’ll do that when I’m done here.

I did absolutely no housework today either….instead I took a nap this afternoon, and I sure feel better 🙂

Well…following are the pictures that I took during our games.  I hope you enjoy them 🙂   Hopefully there will be a much more interesting post tomorrow – this posting every day thing is harder than I thought it would be!!

Finished game – I don’t remember the score, but mom won 😦

My Yahtzee – which I rolled all in one roll 🙂

Me – waiting for my turn….

Mom after the Yahtzee game – she took her glasses off for this picture.

I don’t remember the scores of the Yahtzee games either, but I know that mom won the first one and I won the second one.

Well…thanks for reading!!

A peek into my week – Tuesday, day 3

Okay, here is my entry for day 3…sorry it’s late!!

I got up this morning around 10:00…I wasn’t feeling well so I slept in 🙂

As usual, I got up and around and checked my e-mail and Facebook.  Afterwards I did my Bible reading and helped mom scan some things in on the computer.

I then went upstairs and did some cleaning and organizing.

Then I convinced mom to play a game with me…I wanted to play Scrabble and she wanted to play Yahtzee…so we compromised and made a deal.  We would play Yahtzee and if I won we would play Scrabble later, and if she won, we wouldn’t.   The final score was 303 – 304…just a measley 1 point difference…I sure did miss not playing Scrabble 😦

I didn’t do very much today since I wasn’t feeling well…

Mom and I did go out and clean out the flower beds around the house though.

It was such a beautiful day that I grabbed the camera, donned flip flops and an orange vest (we wear them around this time of year since there are people hunting all around us!), and went for a walk…mom brought Skep and Honey out for a walk too 🙂

Skep in the middle of a yawn!

I didn’t get a good picture of Honey…she wouldn’t cooperate 🙂

Emma 🙂

She likes to put her paw in my face 🙂

The view looking up into the tree above me – I love how blue the sky was 🙂

Mr. Knightley on the deck…doesn’t he look like he’s smiling?  🙂

Milo on the deck.

I know I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures of what I did today, but like I said…I didn’t do much 🙂

The rest of the day consisted of playing piano, working on the computer, etc…

I layed down at 7:00 tonight and woke up at 10:00…that’s why this post is so late 🙂

Well…it is now 11:46 PM and I think I’m going to wrap this up for now.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more exciting than today!!!

Thanks for reading!

Sara 🙂

A peek into my week – Monday, day 2

I woke up around 8:00 and got around for the day.  I went downstairs and had breakfast – a small bowl of Apple Blasts (a generic brand of Apple Jacks) cereal.

After breakfast I went back upstairs, curled up in my chair and did my Bible reading.

About 9:30, I got on the internet and checked my e-mail, Facebook and, of course, my blog stats to see how many people visited 🙂

From about 9:45-12:00 I did some housecleaning…

Swept downstairs.

Cleaned both downstairs bathrooms (I didn’t figure anyone would care to see pictures of our bathrooms, so I didn’t take any 🙂

Well…by the time I got that done, it was around 11:45.  I walked out to check the mail and it wasn’t here yet, so I came back up to the house, and when I got into the kitchen, I glanced out the window and there was the mail lady, putting the mail in our mailbox…go figure!!  I decided to wait and get it later…after mom and I played our game of……

I love that game 🙂

I was getting some pretty hard letters and didn’t have many places to play them!

Mom deep in thought 🙂

Waiting for my turn 🙂

Finished game!   Score:  Mom – 270     Me – 302  🙂

After Scrabble…around 1:20, I hopped on the computer again for a little bit, and then showed mom how to use the new scanner.

From about 1:30 – 2:45 I swept the steps and cleaned them with the carpet cleaner…

YAY!!  Clean steps 😉

After that I played piano for a little bit…

Then, since it was such a BEAUTIFUL day today, I donned a pair of flip-flops, grabbed a small stack of Pringles and the camera and went for a quick walk….

View from the end of our driveway.

Then as I was coming up to the house, from our pond, I happened to glance up into one of our outdoor lights that doesn’t work, and noticed this…

A HUGE wasp nest!  YIKES…they better stay away from me 🙂

After my walk, I came in, edited some pictures.

When I was finished with my pictures, I went upstairs, grabbed some corn chips, curled up in my chair and read “Piercing the Darkness” by Frank Peretti for a little bit…then went with mom to pick Ryan up from work.

It is now 5:47…sure my day doesn’t end now, but I’m relaxing the rest of the night…hopefully going to get more reading in 🙂

Thanks again for reading my post 🙂

A peek into my week – Sunday, day 1

I got this idea from another blog that I was on and thought it was kind of neat, but I’m not real great about writing what I do, so I’m going to show you in pictures with captions, what it’s like to be me for a week 🙂

I awoke this morning at 8:00am and got up and around for church.  About 8:30, my dog, Buddy, wanted to go outside, so I grabbed the camera and went out with him.

My little kitty friend from next door, Mr. Knightley, was here for for a visit…

At 9:00am we left for church.  We attend a home fellowship in Ohio, in a rented building at the fairgrounds.

When we arrived, I went inside and got the sound system all set up, and had a little bit of time to visit before the service started at 10:00am.   Our Elder, Mr. Walter, had the message this morning.  He spoke on Suffering/Storms.  It was very good…I wish I had a sound recording of it 🙂

Services ended about 12:00 and our family stayed for about another hour visiting with others 🙂

I had a quick chat with Grandma Honey before she left, and even convinced her to let me take her picture…

When we got home, I made a sandwich for lunch, and after lunch, mom and I finished our game of Yahtzee from yesterday… and drank Peppermint Mocha Coffee!!

We play 2 rows at a time 🙂

Final score for this game was Mom – 407  Me – 533

We played another game and I ended up winning that one as well 🙂

I even mangaed to get a Yahtzee!!!

Unfortunately, we played again tonight and she beat me.

I was able to get a nice 2 hour nap this afternoon as well!  All in all it has been a very nice, relaxing day 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed day 1 of my week!   Thanks for reading!!  🙂
