Unexpected Detours

Have you ever been driving down the road to a certain destination (let’s say, a family get together where you know delicious food and great times of fellowship await!), and suddenly… there’s a detour…and it may very well take longer to get to your destination now because of it.

Do you say “Oh goody!  We get to go a different way; see different things and get there late!”   If you’re like me, most likely not…you probably get a little irritated, and suddenly realize just how hungry you are.

But how do you respond to an unexpected detour that God sends your way in your life? You know the kind I’m talking about…you have an idea of how something is going to work out…you really think it’s God’s plan for it to work out; then… boom…plans change…you aren’t going that way.  God’s sending you another way and you aren’t even sure if the detour will end with the same destination or plan in mind, or if God is taking you in a completely different direction…with a different destination and plan.

You see…that’s where I am right now.  I thought for sure I was going the way God wanted me going in a certain area of my life, but since the WIT conference a few weeks ago, He has asked me to take a detour…give Him my plans…pray some very hard things…and trust that He knows what He’s doing.

This week has been a challenge for me as I’ve been seeking just what it is He does want me doing.  But as I set out on this unexpected detour, I want to try and ‘enjoy the view’ as much as I can, because, who knows…it may be an even better view than I ever imagined 🙂

Below is a  a song that I found yesterday that I absolutely fell in love with called “When God Has Another Plan” by The Greenes, sung by Trusten Moore.   I encourage you to listen to it 🙂
